At Leisure 3 - DIY Logos to look for: The FSC Mark

deforestationWood Products : the facts

Britain has lost 97% of its natural woodland cover over the last 300 years

50% of that cover has been lost since 1945 and the negative trend continues.

What can I do?

fsclogoBuying wood
When you buy wood for DIY or any product that has a wooden part (a handle, for instance) make sure it is marked with the FSC logo

The Forest Stewardship Council's Trademark (shown on the right) is a label on timber and wood products which indicates that the wood comes from a well-managed forest.

It guarantees that the forest of origin has been independently inspected and evaluated to comply with an internationally agreed set of strict environmental, social and economic standards.

How can I do it?

Many retailers such as B&Q, Ikea and Homebase stock a wide range of FSC marked products.
