1 in 4 children now travel to school by car, creating 17% of the traffic between 9 and 10 and 10% of the afternoon rush hour. Most of these journeys are between 1 and 2 miles. Up
to one in five cars at peak time is doing the school run, four

Cut
down on the school run. Organise an informal taxi service and set up
a school website to co-ordinate this with. Organise
a 'walking bus' with parents taking it in turns to 'drive the bus. Buy a Tandem,
a Trandem or a trailer for your bike take your children to school by
bike!
