At Work 2 - Carbon Offset

Carbon Emissions : the facts

The burning of fossil fuels
Since the industrial revolution, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have increased by 25%

The burning of fossil fuels to run vehicles, heat homes and power factories now counts for about 70% of all carbon dioxide emissions.

What can I do?

Do you want to find out how you can reduce, manage, offset and neutralise the emissions of your department or council?

Carbon management
First there's carbon management. From big corporations to individuals, we can all try to reduce our carbon dioxide emissions and produce less carbon dioxide. A simple way of beginning this process is to undergo Global Action Plan's 'Action at Work' programme.

Carbon Offset
Or there's carbon offset. A method by which we can counter-balance some or neutralise all of our remaining emissions by planting trees through Future Forests.

For departments, councils and companies, the carbon management section will provide you with information on how you can offset a proportion of your carbon dioxide emissions or make your whole operation carbon neutral. It will also give you an insight into how and why other companies have done it.

How can I do it?

It is simple to neutralize your emissions - Future Forests will plant trees to absorb the carbon you produce. If you can't do without it, neutralise it.

You can neutralise your car fleet, your travel, your production line, your computer equipment, your building.

Future Forests calculate your carbon emissions and plant trees to absorb that carbon. It is simple, cheap and highly effective.

Carbon Calculation for the Organisation
Calculate your organisation's greenhouse gas emissions using best Foot Forward's CarbonCalc - an easy way for you to measure and monitor progress.

Carbon Calc covers primary energy, transport and process emissions and includes many innovative features and functions. For further details contact Guy Longshaw.

What is Future Forests?
Future Forests is an environmental task force. The basis is simple - trees absorb greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and convert it into oxygen and wood. Future Forests raises money in order to pay for tree planting, research, monitoring, auditing and management.
