At Work 3 - Take the fair trade challenge

deforestationThe Fair Trade Challenge

In the UK we drink over 31 billion cups of
coffee a year.

The Fairtrade Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as a guarantee that farmers get a fair deal in the developing world.

Fair trade coffee is bought directly from farmer's organisations at a price which always covers the cost of production and a basic living wage, no matter how low the world price goes.

What can I do?

Take up the Fair Trade Challenge.

Clare Short says: 'Now by backing the Fair Trade Coffee Challenge your business can have a positive impact on the people who grow the coffee'.

Coffee dispensers can be provided free on loan, there are now 28 types of coffee and over 300 distributors throughout the country.
