Fair
Trade : the facts
A
Christian Aid survey showed:
86%
agreed with the statement 'trading fairly with a country was
a better way to help a country than giving aid'.
92% of British Consumers think British companies should have
a minimum standard of labour conditions for their Third World
Suppliers

If
you want to make a difference, 'Put your money where your mind is.'
Fair Trade Oxfam and Traidcraft aim to fight poverty in the third world
by encouraging industry and consumers to support FAIR TRADE. It is easy
to make a difference through buying fairly traded products.
By choosing a FAIRLY TRADED brand instead of a conventional one you
can offer producers in the world's poorest countries a secure future.
|
|
How
can I do it?
Oxfam promote
fairly traded products in selected branches.
The Traidcraft website
contains a wide range of fairly- traded goods and gifts.
Most Supermarkets offer Fairly Traded Teas and Coffees- look for the Fairtrade
mark and ask your local shops to stock products with the Fairtrade mark.

|
Smart
thinking
The Fairtrade
Mark is an independent consumer label which appears on products as a guarantee
that producers in the developing world get a fair deal. Fair trade coffee
is bought directly from farmer`s organisations at a price which, no matter
how low the world price goes, always covers the cost of production and
a basic living wage.
