Organic
food: the facts
Better
for the countryside
Surveys by the Ministry of Agriculture and the British Trust for Ornithology,
have shown the beneficial effects of organic farming on wildlife.
Creating more Jobs
Organic Farming creates between 30 and 70% more jobs in hard pressed
rural economies than conventional agriculture.
|
What
can I do?
The
best reason for buying organic food is simply that it tastes good, but
there may also be sound health reasons for doing so. It has been shown
in some studies to have more vitamins and trace elements than conventionally
grown food and of course, it will not have been treated with any chemicals.
It is also better for biodiversity and wildlife - see the sections below.

How
can I do it?
Simply
Organic deliver organic food to your door at a time of your choosing
and at close to supermarket prices.
Many supermarkets have now pledged not to stock Genetically Modified food
and stock a range of organic alternatives.
Farmers markets are becoming increasingly common, The Soil Association
can provide a list of these markets.
